ज़िंदगी अगर तुझे समझ कर जीते
तो फिर क्या ख़ाक जीते !

मज़ा तो ग़लतियाँ करने में था
हर पल को दिल से जीने में था !

माना कि ग़लतियाँ हज़ार हुयीं हमसे
सुनाने को कहानियाँ ख़ूब मिली इनसे !

क्या बताऊँ दिलों के खेल में दर्द ख़ूब मिले
छाया था ऐसा नशा जो न बोतलों में मिले!

ज़हर ख़ूब था हममें औरों का असर क्या होता
नशा ख़ुद का था हममें, शराब का असर क्या होता !
